Ticket Tailor has announced a smooth integration with Square, a technology company that streamlines and simplifies access to financial services and commerce. Event planners who are selling tickets on the Ticket Tailor app can now take Square payments online as a result of this change. Ticket Tailor charges a tiny flat fee (beginning at 19p/26c) for each ticket sold, in contrast to other ticketing services that charge a higher fee for each transaction. The transaction fee is different for each area and payment processor that the event organizer chooses to use when setting up a ticket office. Event coordinators of all sizes are drawn to Square because it is free to register an account and because transactions are reasonably priced.

This cooperation, which went live in beta at the beginning of June, is anticipated to improve payment options for tickets and organizers while also opening up new revenue prospects.

More ease and worldwide expansion Because Ticket Tailor never has money on hand, they may instantly pay organizers to the online payment account of their choice. As a result, there is much improved financial efficiency and cash flow management because event organizers get paid as soon as a transaction is finished.

The collaboration between Square and Ticket Tailor not only benefits the events industry but also presents an opportunity for both companies to grow into new markets.

Ticket Tailor was created in 2010 and now sells over a million tickets a month. It has a large global following; as of now in 2023, 44% of all tickets sold were in the UK. The US came in second with 33%, followed by the rest of Europe with 12%, Canada with 7%, Australia and New Zealand with 2%, and other nations with 2%.

Ticket Tailor’s method of using Stripe to grow internationally with little work

Ticket Tailor, a UK-based event ticketing company makes it simple and reasonably priced to sell tickets for any kind of event online. 80,000 event planners in 184 countries have utilized it as the largest independent ticketing platform in the world, and it has sold 30 million tickets so far.

Difficulty

Ever since its founding in 2010, Ticket Tailor has maintained the belief that businesses have a significant impact on improving the world. Ticket Tailor, a carbon-neutral company with B Corp certification, donates 1.3c (1p) from each ticket sold to organizations that fight climate change.

“‘Growth on purpose’ is the cornerstone of our vision,” explains Jonny White, the CEO and founder of Ticket Tailor. “We want our growth to have a positive impact on people and the planet.” Therefore, the more tickets we sell, the more of an impact we make on our users, team, the environment, or the community. The company’s main goals for this year are to grow the business and penetrate more markets, especially the US. Over 13,000 box offices and 10 million tickets were sold on the site in 2022.

Even while the company is experiencing exciting times, White points out that this kind of hypergrowth can present difficulties, especially when it comes to payments, which he views as the most complicated portion of ticketing.

Resolution

Ticket Tailor, which has 80,000 event planners spread over 184 countries, opted for Stripe to enable its varied clientele to provide a smooth and customized payment process. Similar to this, it was able to maintain cheap payment processing rates because it had a large number of thrifty clients, such as charity. Ticket Tailor required a payments partner that could grow with the company, scale with its purposely small workforce, and be easy to integrate and maintain. Additionally, the business needs a dependable partner with a 99.999% uptime, such as Stripe. According to White, “Stripe’s dependability is excellent, and that’s important for us.” Every second, transactions are completed, therefore when something goes wrong, it affects not only our consumers but also our customer service staff.

Onboarding New Users in minutes—With little Technical Work

Ticket Tailor found that the onboarding process for payments was the biggest point of drop-off in its customer journey. It began utilizing Connect to streamline the onboarding process and include payments into its platform. Ticket Tailor users may get up and running quickly with Stripe-hosted onboarding, as opposed to the upfront expenses or development time often needed for payment facilitation. White said, “One engineer was required to implement the feature, which was another important factor in our decision to choose Connect over other payment providers, even in 2014.”

Enhancing Payments and going Global without using any Code

Ticket Tailor used Stripe’s Optimised Checkout Suite—which includes Link, Stripe’s accelerated checkout experience, and the Payment Element, a variety of payment methods that are dynamically surfaced to help increase conversion—to accelerate its expansion into new markets without requiring a significant engineering lift. When a consumer makes their first purchase on a Link-supported website, Link remembers their payment information and uses it to automatically fill in the delivery address and card information for all subsequent purchases. Recurring purchases could be challenging and time-consuming because all ticket buyers use guest checkout rather than making an account with Ticket Tailor.

Customers can store their payment information when Link is enabled. It is quicker to pay because their payment information is automatically entered the next time they check out. According to a Stripe analysis, Link was utilized to check out for 12% of all Ticket Tailor purchases, with 8% of those being a repeat Link customer. The link also showed a statistically significant improvement in checkout conversion. According to White, “We were even able to turn it on automatically for all of our users,” because the interface with Link was so simple. “Why wouldn’t you use Link as it will make your customers’ lives easier?”
