Early Thursday morning in Yulee, Florida, Eric Mabius, the 53-year-old actor most known for his parts in “Ugly Betty” and Hallmark’s “Signed, Sealed, Delivered” series, was arrested. Mabius was charged with two misdemeanours by the Nassau County Sheriff: simple battery and resisting arrest without violence. On February 20, 2025, the arrest took place local time around two a.m.
The arrest report states that Mabius and a 40-year-old female friend were at The Goat, a Yulee neighbourhood pub. Unruly behaviour caused the woman to be asked to leave many times.
Witnesses said she started spitting on several customers, aggravating the matter. Allegedly, Mabius pulled “fistfuls” of a female victim’s hair and shoved her to the ground. One spectator was able to separate Mabius from the victim.

Mabius and his friend both seemed “very intoxicated” and were uncooperative when cops arrived. At one point, trying to go behind a constable during the inquiry, Mabius grew hostile and disobeyed orders to stay seated.
This conduct resulted in his arrest for nonviolent law enforcement resistance. Mabius and the victim were detained on simple battery and resistance without violence, even though the victim refused to file charges.
Eric Mabius gained widespread recognition for his portrayal of Daniel Meade on the ABC comedy-drama series “Ugly Betty,” which aired from 2006 to 2010. He has also been a prominent figure in Hallmark’s “Signed, Sealed, Delivered” franchise since 2013, starring in the original series and subsequent films.
Mabius expressed satisfaction at the franchise’s development and devoted following in a 2024 interview. In his personal life, Mabius wed interior designer Ivy Sherman in 2006; their two boys are Maxfield and Rylan.
