Israel Resumes Airstrikes on Gaza, Ending Ceasefire and Causing Hundreds of Casualties

Israel started a large-scale airstrike on the Gaza Strip early on March 18, 2025. This ended a peace in place since the middle of January. The Israeli military said that the operation was aimed at Hamas bases. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that the renewed military action was necessary because Hamas refused to free Israeli prisoners and start new peace talks.

According to the Gaza Health Ministry, the attacks killed at least 326 Palestinians, mostly women and children, and hurt hundreds more.
